Yoga with Tasha

Yoga is fun, exploratory, humorous, silly, serious, different every day, and often, challenging. Not just physically challenging, but challenging expectations of yourself, your limitations, your abilities and patterns/habits.

I've been a student of yoga for over twenty years and a teacher since 2005. I now focus on teaching privates and sub around town at studios and workplaces. I also teach harmonium and vocal lessons, as yoga. Music is yoga. Yoga is music.

Get a class tailored to your specific needs and desires.  This is the way yoga used to be taught.  One on one, to your individual body, psychology and learning style. I have ten years of yoga teaching experience and 21 years of practice, including training in anatomy, asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra and philosophy.  I work well with beginners, students recovering from injuries, or those wanting to find a home practice, with a little guidance first.

$75/hour with discounts for multiple sessions booked in advance.

If money is an issue, please speak with me. I want yoga to be accessible to all and we can work something out.

Vocal/Harmonium Lessons

Vocal/Harmonium Lessons

I believe in the healing power of sound, mantra, singing and music.  I believe we can all benefit from sound and singing.  Whether you wish to do mantra at home, lead a class or kirtan, or simply want to feel more confident with your voice or harmonium skills, I can help!

Voice and harmonium lessons are fun, judgment free and geared towards helping YOU find strength, joy and confidence in your skills to practice or lead in song, specifically mantra, kirtan and spiritual music. I've been singing since age 8 and teaching voice for many years.  Music is one of my favorite things in the universe and it is a great joy to share it with others.

The first lesson is 45 minutes and $35.  Subsequent lessons are $45/hour, with discounts on multiple lessons booked.

Testimonials

Tasha's highly intuitive and creative nature means her classes are true play. They are strongly connected to the seasons, and the flow sequences are always the perfect mix of safe and challenging. I love her real world vibe, but I also love that when she feels someone's hurting from the shit show that can be humanity, she makes it better.

-Emily B., drop-in class student

Tasha’s skilled understanding of how the body works, common patterns of maladjustment and her deep understanding of Yoga helped me to greatly reduce the chronic pain I was experiencing. Working with her has helped me develop body awareness and understand how breath, posture and movement contribute to how my body feels. All I can say is, “Thank You”

John Clayton, private therapy and weekly class student

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Tasha during a yoga retreat. She is AWESOME! She has such an innate sense of the body, a caring nature, and a wonderful attention to the growth and healing aspect of spirit. One of the best yoga instructors I’ve ever had the pleasure to practice with.

Yvonne R., retreat student

Tasha is a wonderful, uniquely talented yoga instructor. She is clear, kind, and teaches in a rhythmic flow that is both relaxing and energizing. She is great for all levels.

Rebecca S., weekly class student

Tasha taught me about the patterns and habits that contributed to my back pain: standing, walking, sitting etc. That alone was invaluable, but I also learned how to breathe properly (yes, there's a proper way) and strengthen the right muscles, while letting the overused muscles relax. I'm a visual learner and ask a lot of questions, and Tasha was always willing to talk through the exercises and anatomy, show me diagrams, and even draw pictures until it all made sense.

-Melissa L., PT and private yoga client

Tasha is so skilled as a healer and as a yoga instructor that I feel immensely grateful that I found her. She has been able to take my individual issues and translate them seemlessly into a community yoga class without skipping a beat. I feel a continuity that I have never experienced in my life that is truly beautiful.

-Susan H., private client and student in group classes

I have had the great opportunity to work with Tasha as a fellow yoga teacher. Her patience and humor bring a wonderful feel to the studio environment and her skill in teaching beginners is unparalleled. I am continually grateful for the way she inspires students to bring both their minds and hearts to the mat.

Uma Diana Hulet, fellow Portland yoga teacher

I have no hesitation referring people of all levels and abilities to Tasha for yoga classes, private lessons or Physical Therapy. Her relaxed manner and deep understanding of the body and breath ensure that each individual feels comfortable and confident under her instruction. I know that with Tasha, Yoga students and PT clients alike will get what they need.

- Nikki Perry, former Shine Yoga Studio Manager

Tasha is an example of pure joy in teaching yoga. She lives for the freedom that the practice brings, and her desire to share that with you is positively infectious. Her easy laugh and simple, straight-forward approach is the opposite of intimidating; everyone feels welcomed and met right where they are in her classes and private sessions. Her ability to be dynamic, passionate, and approachable are totally unique. I am lucky to have had the chance to teach with her, and recommend her kind and gentle way with teaching and therapeutics without reservation.
